Wednesday - 09/29/10 - re: www.andrew-jarrett.com

Problems with Andrew and Jarrett's website

12:37 AM PST: Some Yahoo! Small Business customers (that would be me) may not be able to access their web sites (that's true!)

Some Yahoo! Small Business customers may have difficulties accessing their web sites.

Customers may see the ‘Page Cannot Be Displayed’ or ‘Page not found’ error messages while trying to access their web sites.

Our Engineers are aware of the issue and actively working to resolve it as quickly as possible.

When the boys' website didn't load right away this morning, I knew something was wrong. Sure enough something was wrong. Let's see how long it takes them to fix it. I'm guessing it won't be fixed until SEPTEMBER 30TH. bye, djb

Andrew's holding Kylie in the swing at Bill's house in Morris.
------------------------------------------------
Monday, September 27, 2010 - I put the above picture on my blog because I took it -- probably should have been on Andrew and Jarrett's blogger blog - oh well. We were having a get-together at Uncle Bill's house and everyone was there. Kylie always loved the boys. She was their little buddy.

Speaking of Berg History. I've been in touch for the past year with one of my faraway cousins who found Andrew and Jarrett's website while doing a search for Sarah and Ludwig Berg. He did extensive research on the Vold/Wald connection (that's my great-grandma Berg).

He wrote a book on www.lulu.com website which they print after they get an order. His name is Allen Wald. The book he wrote is called Wald Family Histories. If go to lulu and put in either his name or the book name, the info comes up and you can buy the hardcover book for $22.00. Just thought I'd put this in here in case anyone wants to do that.

I'm definitely planning to buy one. I'll also get one for Grandpa because it is his family history (also mine), and apparently the same history for a lot of people we don't even know! haha

Allen has been a dogged and determined researcher, seems very nice in his correspondence and is quite an intelligent guy. Well, what else would you expect from one of my relatives, eh?

You know the Norkses have always been quite adaptable. Sure, they have that darn Viking heritage (pillaging, plundering, etc.) to live down but once they were finished fighting and conquering, they settled down and pretty much chilled out and enjoyed life. Assimilation was the key to their happiness.

It's was in the 40's this morning. That is just NOT right. -djb

Here's me holding Ginny's son, baby Chris, back in 1968 - a few weeks after he was born -- 42 years ago. wow!

Thursday, September 23, 2010 - Seven more days until you know what!!! Yikes!!!

We're supposed to have very high temperatures today...close to 90 degrees again! oh boy! I like the sound of that.

Hey, it's the first day of fall today. I see a tree with reddish leave outside this window. Yup, it's fall. see ya later, djb

This is what the driveway looked like last night when the severe thunderstorm came through between 5 and 6 o'clock.
-------------------------------------------------
Wednesday, September 22, 2010 - So, I mowed the lawn for three and half hours yesterday...nervously watching the sky toward the west as the afternoon began. There were a few clouds but nothing particularly ominous looking.

While I was talking to Ron just before 5:00, the thunder started rumbling and the dark clouds began moving in -- it was very exciting! I was standing at the door in the garage that goes out to the deck and I could tell that the wind speed had increased from 0 to 50 mph. The trees were moving around like they were possessed.

It was pretty vicious for a while but thankfully, it was a fast moving storm. By the time Bob got home -- a little after 6 -- it was over except for a few sprinkles here and there.

Glad I got the lawn mowed!!! yeah! see ya later, djb

Here's my pink geraniums on the deck -- still blooming, still gorgeous.
--------------------------------------------------
Tuesday, September 21, 2010 - Apparently, I was wrong, tomorrow is the FIRST day of autumn. I thought I'd heard that it was today but at least it will still feel like summer...close to 90 degrees.

Of course, there's the "but" involved in that... warm weather BUT severe thunderstorms are headed our way this afternoon.

That means I have to mow the yard before noon. It usually takes about two and a half to three hours to get the whole thing mowed. Glad I got gas for the tractor last week or was it the week before? So I don't have to worry about that.

Yesterday, I spent 5 hours working on my Roxio. Not going to do that today. Plus, I didn't feel right. I won't say exactly what it was but I'm much better today.

Better go eat some food....so I can break my fast. haha bye, djb

Here's a picture of young Gayla at their house in DeKalb on 7th Street. Not sure what year this is but she sure liked mustard!
----------------------------------------------
Wednesday, September 8, 2010 - We had HUGE winds all day yesterday. I'm pretty sure that I mentioned that fact somewhere. Anywho, during a commercial break last night (just before 6), I saw ELBURN on the list of cities with high wind gusts. We were second-place in this area (highest one was near Lake Michigan in Chicago).

Elburn's Highest Wind gust: 52 mph. WOW! I was watching the trees move around and I knew it was over 50.

Unfortunately, I couldn't mow the lawn yesterday because there was dust and debris flying around in the air. Plus, I'm sure the leaves that have already fallen would've added to the nightmare. So, I get to mow today. Not so windy today.

Better go. It's cool but at least it's not snowing yet. later, djb

Baby Andrew was in his buggy in the fall (notice fallen leaves) holding onto his plastic thing whose name I can't remember!

Tuesday, September 7, 2010 - For the past few days, I've been going crazy trying to figure out Windows 7 and all of my incompatibility issues. I've certainly had an education. I could almost have a real office job because I've been spending inordinate amounts of time at the computer and it hasn't totally killed me yet.

Now I'm wearing my good (think expensive) glasses almost all of time and I can see the screen really well with the bifocal part. Plus, the screen is so bright and clear on this computer that I can finally SEE what my photos look and it's a joy to use....

....well, except when I'm fighting with Windows 7. arghhh!!!

Interesting to note that no one I contact at either Yahoo or the Best Buy Geek Squad (I have 6 months free Geekage and it's worth every penny!), has any idea how to work with 7. So, I have to figure it out for myself.

Although, I think the very last guy I had an email from at Yahoo gave me a shred of good advice. The only problem is that when I publish to Yahoo's server, I have to disable my Russian anti-virus software. It only takes a minute or so but it's still very scary and the red lights start flashing.

okie dokie, better go. The sun will come out tomorrow.... oh, and it's out today. see ya later, djb

Here's Abby, Carly and me (holding Carly). We met the girls and Mike at Rosita's on Friday night.
------------------------------------------------
Sunday, September 5, 2010 - Only 25 more days until my birthday, and I don't really care, but I can't help it when I see September and the numbers on the dates, my brain goes off on its own whimsical journey....and the countdown begins.... haha

We had so much fun seeing Abby, Mike and Carly on Friday night. I remember the day after Carly was born, I got to hold her because Abby trusted me not to drop her. In fact, she wore the outfit I got her home from the hospital.

It was all because of the Carson/Carly situation.... They told Abby and Mike that Carly was a boy for 8 and 1/2 months. Then, two weeks before SHE was born, they changed their tune, "Oops, it's a girl."

I've never seen a little kid that young speak so clearly and with such perfect enunciation. Andrew had such a pwoblem with r's that it's kind of fun to hear sentences come out of this little person's mouth. I'm amazed and totally amused.

She was good, too. A lot of the time, I was using my Flip video recorder to record the action. The camera was extremely bright, flashy and intrusive...poor little thing, I was going total papparazza on her, and she didn't seem to mind all that much.

Yesterday, I spent HOURS trying to get the videos to download with no success. Finally, last night, I called Diane and I said, "I'm going to cry. I can't figure this out." Her response, "I couldn't either." Okay, so I found my video support system. haha!!

It's 8 a.m.and time for more coffee. Excuse typos. bye, djb
