This is the squirrel nest that fell on Berg's car this morning.  It made quite a noise!

Monday, April 30, 2012 - This morning, there were a few leaves on the car, so Granny went outside and hosed it off, and it was sparkly clean.

After she came in the house and started making coffee, I heard a weird noise outside.  What the heck was that?

I looked outside and saw the hood of the car covered with new leaves.  Then, about 2 minutes later, the big nest fell on top of the car.  WOW!

After breakfast, Granny and I went out and got the mess off the car and I put it all in a garbage bag.  Hopefully, the squirrels are through making a mess of things.  We'd like to see them move to another tree.  see ya later, djb

Saturday, April 28, 2012 - This is a photo from the Picasa pictures I have stored somewhere in the universe.  How cool is that!

I'm in Florida right now.  It's 66 degrees at 6:52 a.m. EDT.  Yesterday afternoon, it got up to 90 degrees.  oh boy!  It's not too humid yet, it's just nice and warm.

Quite a change from the 34 degrees I awoke to yesterday.  This is all for now.  As I said before, they've changed the way I post things on the blogger blogs and it's all new to me.  see ya later, djb

Aunt Gladys with Diane back in July 3, 2007 at the rehab facility in DeKalb.

FRIDAY, APRIL 13, 2012 - YIKES!

The fear of Friday the 13th is called friggatriskaidekaphobia (Frigga being the name of the Norse goddess for whom "Friday" is named and triskaidekaphobia meaning fear of the number thirteen).

We're having another Friday the 13th today. Once again, I would like to share some interesting tidbits I discovered:

Some Christian traditions have it that at the Last Supper, Judas, the disciple who betrayed Jesus, was the 13th to sit at the table.

Triskaidekaphobia may have also affected the Vikings - is believed that Loki in the Norse pantheon was the 13th god - more specifically, Loki was believed to have engineered the murder of Balder, and was the 13th guest to arrive at the funeral. This is perhaps related to the superstition that if 13 people gather, one of them will die in the following year.

Another Norse tradition involves the myth of Norna-Gest: when the uninvited norns
showed up at his birthday celebration - thus increasing the number of guests from ten to thirteen.

Ancient Persians believed the twelve constellations in the Zodiac controlled the months of the year, and each ruled the earth for a thousand years at the end of which the sky and earth collapsed in chaos. Therefore, the number is identified with chaos and the reason Persians leave their houses to avoid bad luck on the thirteenth day of the Persian Calendar, a tradition called Sizdah Bedar.

I found these tidbits from my January, Friday the 13th posting. As close as I figure, I've got this triskaidekaphobia from BOTH sides of my ancestral tree. WOW! cross my fingers, hope to see ya later, djb

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DIANE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
---------------------------------------------
Monday, April 9, 2012 - Happy Birthday to my Seester!

I'm in the middle of a couple of situations. My andrew-jarrett website is acting crazy again. Which makes me a little nervous because of the 2,000 people who were "let go" at Yahoo.

This weirdness always used to happen on the weekends. Now, I think it's disgruntled employees. When I've talked to them they always tell me that it's not THEIR fault my entire website chooses to upload the entire 17,000 KB even though it's already on their server.

Yesterday, I had Grandma Berg's picture page...it's in limbo.

Today, I have Diane's birthday page ready to be published. My website is still uploading after almost 24 hours. This is a nightmare.

Then, when I tried to post the above picture on Facebook, it wouldn't let me alter it. I hate Facebook. It's not creative, it's controlled. It's a take it or leave it proposition (with advertising). If you don't like it, you don't have to be on there.

Pardon my rant. I need more coffee. And Happy Birthday to Aunt Diane. see ya later, djb

This is the top view of the flowers... they are so pretty in person.

Flowers from Julie in memory of Aunt Gladys -- I added the colorful Easter eggs around the bottom of the flower pot.
----------------------------------------------
Saturday, April 7, 2012 - When we got back home from Aunt Gladys' memorial service on Tuesday, this beautiful pot of flowers was sitting right next to the garage door. I know who had put them there....

Julie had come over while we were gone and left them for me. How sweet and how beautiful. Hopefully, I can keep them blooming all summer long. God love Aunt Gladys. later, djb

THE FULL PINK MOON - this is a stand-in for the real thing.
----------------------------------------------
Good Friday, April 6, 2012 - Today is the full moon.

April 6, 2012 - 10:21 a.m. EDT -- Full Pink Moon. The grass pink, or wild ground phlox, is one of the earliest widespread flowers of spring. Other names for this month's moon were the Full Sprouting Grass Moon, the Egg Moon, and — among coastal tribes — the Full Fish Moon, when the shad came upstream to spawn. This is also the Paschal Full Moon; the first full moon of the spring season. The first Sunday following the Paschal Moon is Easter Sunday, which indeed will be observed two days later on Sunday, April 8.
**********************************************
Here's what I learned many years ago: Easter is the first Sunday (April 8) after the first full moon (April 6) after the vernal equinox (March 20).

Happy 95th birthday to Uncle Malvin. see ya later, djb
